BISNIS is the U.S. Government's primary market information center for U.S. companies exploring business opportunities in Russia and other Newly Independent States. BISNIS provides U.S. companies with the latest market reports and tips on developments, export and investment leads, and strategies for doing business in the NIS. Since opening in 1992, BISNIS has facilitated more than $3.4 billion worth of U.S. exports and overseas investments. BISNIS was established in 1992 under the Freedom Support Act and is a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, which promotes market access for U.S. companies worldwide. BISNIS keeps US companies informed about commercial developments in the NIS, operating more like a market research group than a news organization.

BISNIS' U.S.-based staff of international trade specialists are available to answer inquiries from U.S. companies about business opportunities and development in the NIS. BISNIS seeks to answer each question in-house, or identify concrete contacts and resources, without referring companies elsewhere on an endless chase for information. Trade specialists are available by phone, email, and appointment to provide information, answer questions, and assist U.S. companies exploring business prospects in NIS markets. BISNIS respects the confidentiality of its clients' business activities.

BISNIS distributes by email to interested U.S. companies the most time-sensitive trade leads and market updates. U.S. companies can register to receive information on more than 40 NIS industry sectors or on any NIS country and several Russian regions.

BISNIS has developed three lead programs to help U.S. companies identify contacts and resources for doing business in the NIS:

BISNIS Search for Partners identifies NIS enterprises seeking U.S. partners to collaborate on specific business projects.

BISNIS Trade & Tenders provides timely leads on NIS export sales opportunities for U.S. companies.

BISNIS FinanceLink is an easy-to-use, web-based service supporting U.S. and NIS companies who have already agreed on export transactions and who seek finance service providers.
